Katon Redgen Mathieson, the timeless modernists.

Don't you just love it when you stumble across a design practice that speaks volumes to you, well that's how I felt when I discovered Katon Redgen Mathieson (KRM) a Sydney based design firm that seems to draw inspiration from classic 20th century architecture and interiors embracing modernist principles that deliver uncluttered spaces that are strong classic and inspiring.

Seriously I'm in love with KRM.

Bold textures and innovative thinking takes knitting to another level.

Claire-Anne O'Brien is a textile designer specialising in you guessed it ......  knitting. Her work plays with technique and scale creating playful and tactile fabrics for interiors. This sculptural approach to textiles brings fabrics to life in three dimensions through form exploration and furniture.
What I am most attracted to is her exaggerated scale combined with bold colour and texture, although her work has a playful quality I find her pieces are classic and timeless.

Modular Stitch is a magnification of the most essential of structural elements in knitting – the loop. Chenille is then knitted in a thick rib and married with a bold colour palette to creating a plush and tactile surface with a myriad of seating configurations.

The Cocoon Effect are you looking for a Haven?

Haven from Zenith InteriorsHaven from Zenith Interiors

Two years ago I was at a seminar listening in on what the next trends were going to be and in the commercial office arena the speaker discussed that due to the move towards open plan offices, face book, twitter and other forms of social media we would be feeling a little too accessible and that very soon in hospitality and the workplace we will be craving designated areas to hide and not be seen "the cocoon effect".

In response to these needs Zenith has answered this call with the Haven the high back of the sofa provides excellent personal privacy, a haven, within a busy world. A place for personal contemplation or interaction amongst a team. The supporting elements/accessories provide a complete working solution. Haven redefines the modular upholstery system with sofas, stools, tables and screens.

light up the corner and roll in the hay with Established and Sons

corner light by Peter Bristol

I love this light placed where the wall and ceiling meet, its' stealth-like appearance implies the lamp is part of the architecture of the room, however the exposed cable reveals that the light’s placement is temporary. This minimalistic light is held by steal brackets with a fabric shade and is available in 2 sizes, from Established & Sons.

HAY BALE RICHARD WOODS & SEBASTIAN WRONG

Above & below -HAY BALE by RICHARD WOODS & SEBASTIAN WRONG

Hay Bale continues the collaborative design relationship between Sebastian Wrong and Richard Woods. Hay Bale is intended to create flexible seating landscapes suitable for contract and domestic use. All four sides are upholstered for comfortable seating, which makes for maximum versatility. Thoughtful details like the cotton-web handles and removable covers make Hay Bale easy to move and maintain. The characteristic all-over Woods print and the string-like stitching give Hay Bale a casual, relaxed attitude.
