inspired by string art the Stretch Chair by Jessica Carnevale
When I was a little boy I spent hours creating string art and I'm sure I even dreamed that I would one day be a professional string art artist. Well I'm glad to see that designer Jessica Carnevale was able to develop this very idea with her debut solo furniture collection "Stretch Chair". She experimented with a number of different materials and ultimately chose latex, bungee and rope for their bright colors and elasticity. She built a simple chair to better frame the compositions that she created. The result is a collection of three vivid pieces.

We’re going to Miami ….. Wanders Style
Mondrian South Beach Hotel designed by Marcel Wanders, is a little bit OTT likened to a fairy-tail involving lots of magic mushrooms. Slip into a world of giant arched hedges, over-sized bell chandeliers, curvacious columns and heavily a detailed lace staircase. The hotel's sunset lounge provides views over Miami's downtown skyline while golden candelabras and onyx jewel-cut stools by Katel are combined with ottomans and antiques creating contrasting visual elements of luxury and opulence.

On the door-step of the breathtaking mountains and valleys of Langeberg Mountains in South Africa
This residential dwelling designed by South African studio Gass is situated in Swellendam at the door-step of the breathtaking mountains and valleys of Langeberg Mountains it's a view so magnificent that the locals have named it "Gods Window" and we can see why.
Gass say, "It was because of this exquisite setting that simple forms and materials were chosen for the architecture, in order to facilitate a subtle intervention - to "lie gently" on the landscape. The buildings were constructed using largely local textures and materials reminiscent of its distinctly Southern African origins".

Giant Bronze Babies, women of steel and social climbing brown nosing
David Cerný is a Jewish - Czech sculptor whose works can be seen in many locations in Prague. His works tend to be controversial always pushing the way we think some of his work is quite humorous and beautiful although some have called him a hooligan. I personally would love to see some of his work injected into our cityscape or office foyers.

Cedar Lake House with parking for 2
Muskoka Lakes Boathouse
If your like me you just can't go past a house by the water especially a house that you can dip your feet over the deck and into the water. This rebuilt boathouse is situated at the end of a narrow bay, the design mediates between extended views out to the wide vista of the distant lake and the immediacy of the enclosed forested shoreline of the bay. This cedar clad house is simple uncomplicated and sits peacefully amongst the tress and the pristine shoreline it occupies.

Whats new from the talented Ross Gardam?
Product designer Ross Gardam has released two new collections to his already impressive body of work.
The Half Full furniture range for Stylecraft, and Touch glass blown lighting range
Both collections, while following very different investigations, represent the development of beautiful, simple solutions to complex problems.
Half Full is a FSC-certified timber furniture collection featuring seven table options, four benches and a stool. Designed and manufactured in Melbourne, the collection is underpinned by a half turned leg feature, injecting a playful personality and sense of lightness into the solid oak range. Both ranges blur the lines of commercial, hospitality and residential. Below are his new collections with some of my favourites by Melbourne based Gardam.
