The house of DUST

In this house, created as it was through a poetical expression of ideas and gestures, the nuisances in the design guide the aesthetic outcome of the space. With ceilings of rustic plaster to mimic a cave roof and a colour palate that draws directly from the earth, the House of Dust, in Rome, draws upon these natural elements and contains them within strict mathematical proportions: walls are divided according to the Golden Rule, arches are called upon to hide storage areas and the house is set out as a series of open spaces leading to contracted rooms. Only the most private space stray from the norm in that they are in an extraordinary pale pink. Houses likes these that are so much a product of an intellectual process can suffer from a lack of heart, the House of Dust however is as warm and inviting as any I’ve seen – and with a wonderful story to go with it!
