tiny spaces Bordeaux

Mickaël Martins Afonso & L’atelier miel recently refurbished a small apartment set over two levels, located in a heritage stone building in the heart of the of Bordeaux, France. The challenge was to design a small space in with the functionality of a large space present.

The light is reflected via 10 windows playing with wood, which is adorned with tones and different nuances depending on the time of day. This constraint of restricted space guided the architects toward solutions, inducing new forms of appropriation of space by the users. This is materialized by the creation of plans on different levels used to sit, lie down, work, and eat.

It’s all in the detail, small spaces can be clutter free provided the way we live has been integrated into the design and fully resolved.
