Labyrinth by Steve Cordony

With a signature style that juxtaposes contemporary with a refined, traditional classicism, Steve Cordony has created a range, which imbues his aesthetic, and also allows the designs to seamlessly work within a myriad of different environments. “I am constantly observing shapes and patterns around me. Whether I am working on any of my projects or travelling, everything from a window grate in India to an iron lantern in South Africa has shaped the collection with these graphic memories forming the basis of lineal patterns and graphic expressions”.

Steve started sketching shapes and patterns on everything from paper napkins to his many notepads. From there he worked them up in Photoshop to see how the repeat patterns worked. From there Steve and Di Lorenzo tiles chose the particular marble they wanted to use and started sampling. The range consists of 3 types of marble for the collection – Carrara from the Tuscan coast quarried in the high mountains behind Marina di Carrara, Thassos, from a Greek island by the same name in the Northern Aegean Sea, and Nero Marquina.

Steve say’s, “My love for monochromatic interiors shaped the palette of the collection which is shades of black, grey and white. The texture and veining in the marble was important as I love creating texture within the subdued palette to create interest and layers.”

The collection will be stocked in five Di Lorenzo showrooms across Sydney, along with their national suppliers and stockists around Australia.
