colour in bold tones

Haymes Paint Colour and Concept Manager, Wendy Rennie, has put together her key colour take outs from the 2018 Milan Design Week. Wendy has broken down her findings into three main points; textures, mixed materials, and colour in bold tones.

Rennie say’s, “Textures were more prevalent and varied than ever, both in soft and hard accessories, from plush velvet, to woolly, animalistic furnishings. Gloss and matt finishes were intermixed with translucent and opaque surfaces. Textured walls also featured heavily, bringing movement, dimension and fluidity”.

Mixing different materials was key, with marble, travertine, terrazzo, terracotta, concrete, ceramics, stone and wood all being used in collaboration with each other, bringing a sense of depth to a space. Colour was varied, showcased as different hues of red, purple, orange and yellow. Bright shades and rich colour combinations featured heavily, along with layered neutrals in tonal variations. Pastels were showcased in bathroom cabinetry and kitchen appliances. Hyames explores texture, colour and bold tones with Rennie’s Milan reflections.
