Skheme opening Rushcutters Bay

The highly anticipated new Skheme showroom in Rushcutters Bay, Sydney, has opened its doors. Designed in collaboration with Matthew Darwon from GP2 Projects and Skheme’s Director Marco De Clerico who was formally a designer, the project brief focused on customisation and strong architectural finishes and textures throughout the showroom inspired by Mies Van Der Rohe and his simple, engaging and easy to navigate spaces.
The space was originally designed to be an IGA Supermarket, however was vacant for many years and was an empty shell when Skheme secured the space.
The overarching project aim, was to create a showroom to work side-by-side with their website and to showcase a vast range of products, without it being overwhelming for the clients and designers. This included a larger space to fully showcase ranges of natural stone and porcelain slabs along with the adaptability to change and move the displays according to forecasted design predictions.
Marco felt the biggest obstacle was how to display the ranges without cluttering the showroom. This was overcome by strategically designing the interchangeable floor/wall displays and the oversized sliding panels.
The custom designed showroom for the architectural/design-orientated client, is simple but with oodles of products, information and it so simple to navigate. One of the stand-out features is the custom designed workbench clad in Skheme designed natural Lloret Slats which are part of the Flute Series. The space is also complemented by the Farrago table, designed in-house, and the Cupboard Door Colour Range showcasing the vast range of products and can be searched using the numbering system on our website, but the real hero is in our hidden treasure…the oversized sliding panels that showcases almost all our ranges in a compacted area.
After visiting the space I feel like the showroom offers the client a realistic snap shot of what the product will look like in-situ, from the large wall/floor displays, sliding panels, along with the all the information needed.
