have you discovered De Castelli ?
De Castelli create vases, planters, chairs, tables, partitions, doghouses and nests. Their objective is to create geometric and non-geometric objects that decorate with discretion, without overpowering the surrounding environment. There is soooo much that I love about these guys, their forms are simple and the products are clever, take for instance the plant pot dog house a perfect integration of a planter and dog shelter. Oh and did I mention within the planter is a place for the dog leash.... seriously brilliant!

South Yarra from the 1920′s
Built in the 1920's as two duplexes, in South Yarra this residence meshes the character filled historic architecture with a stunning modern addition. My love for this project is the well proportioned spaces you just can't beat wide open walkways leading onto gracious living spaces. This family home designed by Carr design group from the street shows no indication of it's sleek light filled interior or the bold two story glazed addiction at the rear of the property..... such a successful transition.

wine time …. at the Bay of Islands New Zealand.
This coastal concrete bunker designed by MAP Architects in the stunning bay of Islands is a simple viewing platform sitting snugly within the landscape providing the perfect backdrop to enjoy a glass ..... a bottle or two.
Drawing inspiration from wartime coastal bunkers & restricted to 25m2 due to local planning regulations the building was commissioned by local residents from a local seaside village. The result is a slice of heaven looking out over the magnificent Bay of Islands.

Clovelly Residence by Diane Fernandes
Located in the inner city seaside suburb Clovelly, this house by Diane Fernandes interiors captures quintessential Australian urban coastal style. With painted out floors soaring ceilings, pops of colour juxtaposed by dark timber veneers and black feature walls the overall feel is relaxed and hip a perfect reflection of the Clovelly crowd. What I really love about this project is that although the house has been taken into 2012 with sleek cabinetry and all the mod cons that modern living requires, however the house still retains its history and charm.

The rebirth of the Great Hall UTS
The rebirth of the Great Hall and Balcony Room at the University of Technology Sydney [UTS] is a stunning addition to the building that encases the ceremonial space of the Great Hall. Perforations in the walls and ceiling provide sculptural detail and acoustic properties. The integrated lighting set into to the falls and peaks of the soaring ceilings adds the perfect amount of drama.

the hill house
The hill house designed by Andrew Maynard Architects based in Melbourne Australia decided rather than repeating past mistakes and extending to the rear of this existing home, they proposed to build a new structure on the rear boundary at the southern edge of the block of what had been until now, the back yard. The new structure faces the sun and the cantilevered box above acts as a solar eave, cutting out summer sun, while letting winter sun flood in. This house embodies serious design principles whist being fun and creative, I just love this project!

floating luxury
Montreal based Sid Lee Architecture designed Bota Bota a first class day spa across 5 floors of a retired 1950'5 passenger ferry permanently docked at Montreal's Old Port offering up a cohesive package, complete with branding, logo and font concepts, and signage.
Extra-large portholes clad in leather allow guests to recline, relax and take in the water views.

will the real iSelect please stand up?
We all know iSelect's out of the box ads and sometimes funny office antics set in a rather ordinary dull office environment.
I wonder if the iSelect ads would have the same pull if they were filmed in their new hip Melbourne HQ designed by V Arc design studio complete with epoxy floors, touchdown and informal collaboration points for team discussions and a two lane running track around the core to facilitate walking meetings leading to a soccer pitch & sun hammocks complete with ocean views

The lily pad in the City
An empty large shell in the middle of Melbourne's CBD offered loop 8 architecture & Sean Van der Velden Architect the opportunity to create a stunning loft style home. Injecting finishes that look like they have been part of the buildings historical past like the beautiful parquetry floors and clever mix of industrial and luxury materials whilst respectfully bringing to life the buildings original framework detail.
