This recent project by Milano firm Dimore Studio exudes all that I love about interiors. The design is strong and understated with an expert mix of forms and materials that allows the space to escape the doldrums of being typecast as belonging to a particular place or time. Set against a backdrop of soft textured grey walls with gentle vaulted ceilings, the colour palate of emerald greens, dusty blues and shades of gold is derived from the lush collection of furniture and art. A stunning brushed brass kitchen bench sits in front of an honest antique timber storage unit, while at the entry a lacquered deep green table sits proudly under one of the most stunning lights I have seen. Throughout, texture is given from simple rugs, artwork and with the clever use of lighting. The bedrooms present an almost monastic façade, with only the bare minimum included, but even here the strong style presents itself confidently. And it is the altogether confident and unpretentious beauty of the design that underpins the whole project as being completely global and one for the ages.
