Exciting times lay ahead at Design Addicts platform HQ with lots of new features within the site coming your way soon! Today I would like to welcome Morris Selvatico to the mix, reporting on all things retail, hospitality and workplace design. Sydney based Alexandra and Lorena are the directors of Interior design studio Morris Selvatico founded in 2008. Morris Selvatico specialises in commercial retail design, store design, space planning, and interior architecture. Believing that good design is not about the budget, but rather the ideas behind the concept and the attention to detail in executing it. Below is their 1st article “stepping it up”, and I look forward to sharing their point of view with you with you at DA platform . Cheers Richard.
Gloss white subway tiling in a footwear retail environment! Who would have thought that a typically cold, hard finish would work so well as an elegant backdrop to the Habbot Studios store located on High Street Armadale? Mim Design obviously thought so and we agree.A simple, restrained palette of finishes provides the perfect setting for these beautiful Italian made shoes designed in Australia by Annie Abbott. All elements of the shoe have be carefully integrated into the store design. The shoe moulds are suspended from rope off timber hooks, while the shoe boxes sit proudly on display rather then being hidden in a back store room out of sight. A soft grey specialised stucco paint finish creates a sophisticated and feminine finish to the walls, while bold stripes bring focus and direction to the walls and floor. Deriving its name from a mixture of its founder’s maiden and married names – Hawthorn and Abbot, Habbot Studios have certainly stepped it up with this refined interior experience.
