minimalism … Barbara Hill style

Designer Barbara Hill was first inspired by minimalism in the early 1970’s and since then she has become a bit of legend for a her paired back yet most livable interiors. Hill’s signature style is evident in Houston based family home transporting a Mediterranean style two-story stucco structure that was packed with dark wood molding and floorboards, making Hill’s modern transformation even more remarkable. Whitewashing the red oak floors 5 times and leaving the black of the arched walnut doorways and period iron stair railing creating a contrast to the newly all-white walls, floors, and ceiling. All windows are left bare with no window coverings excluding the bedroom. With the visual clutter gone, the house seems much more expansive than its modestly sized rooms would suggest. Although the home is derived from minimalism its layers are still soft and inviting. Total love for for Barbra Hill!
