Victorian Reborn

When I think of a London townhouse I have visions of grand proportions, tapestries and heavy antiques. It’s always a joy then when I come across a design that brings a very traditional townhouse into the modern age. The original Victorian building, which consisted of four separate flats, was completely gutted to make way for the single residence the architect described as adhering to “ the principle of lateral living,” in that large portions of the home were given over to expanses of living and leisure areas. In designing the home the architects, SHH, have created a sleek and expansive home that still retains all the grandeur that one expects from a house of this ilk.
