A vision in stone

There are times when a project takes my interest because of the beautiful furniture, stunning art or incredible location. So this house in Taiwan by Waterfrom Design is somewhat of an exception in that the furniture is minimal or non-existent, there no art to speak off and the location could not be more non-descript. So what took my interest? First up it was the stone flooring. I would ordinary run screaming if someone suggested wall-to-wall stone flooring… but this is spectacular and with each floor having a different stone the effect is impressive.

Next up is the carved bamboo motif front door that welcomes the visitor and sets the stage for the Zen like interiors beyond. Finally the wall finishes: brown brick, timber and more stone! It can be a dangerous task adding in so many different finishes and materials and the results can sometimes be disastrous, however this home shows that given the right approach the results can be surprizing and remarkable.
