When I look for an interior to share with you often I am looking for luxurious finishes or incredible scale. So this week is a slight step away from that but is by no means any less special. This week I am writing about a garage. What was a “shitty garage,” as described by the architects, has been transformed into a tranquil and unique setting. And the setting, in Washington State, certainly is spectacular. Perched on the waterways not far from Seattle, the garage has been brought together by combining the old and new, by repurposing existing materials and by opening itself up to the surrounding nature.
In redesigning the garage, Graypants worked towards gleaning the memories and character of the old garage to reuse as the “theatre” for the new and in doing so instilled it with a unique charisma and philosophy which makes this little structure quite a grand statement and a place I wouldn’t mind escaping to on the weekend!
