The understated nature of Joe D’Urso belies the breath and scale of the works he has completed and this recent project in New York’s West Village is no exception. Born from combining two Federation townhouses, this single family home is now a repository of world-class art and a stunning collection of furniture from amazing custom pieces to mid-century icons.
The colour palate of throughout is made up of mostly muted and earthy tones with a strong showing of stone and timber. The colour comes in the form of the art on the walls and soft furnishings and rugs, however nothing is ever garish or seems out of place.
In a house such as this, where the spaces are as much a gallery as they are a functioning home, D’Urso has brilliantly and cleverly created a comfortable, modern and very usable family home.
