1950’s revival Ipanema Beach Rio de Janerio

Located near the forest looking out over Ipanema Beach Rio de Janerio with breathtaking views to mountains called the Dois Irmãos (Two Brothers). Originally designed Paolo Mendes da Rocha in the fifties, Parisian designer Didier Gomez has preserved the spirit and originality whist breathing new life into the villa.

Facing the pool, the sea appears in all its immensity. From both sides of the house and lush forest bathes the site in coolness. The pool is surrounded by jacaranda wood and dressed in a local green slate. The exterior of this home, designed by Paolo Mendes da Rocha and Sergio Gattaz in the fifties, was not changed. However when approaching the interior  Didier Gomez focus was to remove all the walls of the ground floor to open the villa to both the sea and the forest. The monochrome pallet and white resin floors are counterbalanced by the organic finishes of jacaranda veneers and stone connecting with the surrounding landscape.
