Hailing from Brazil, architect and interior designer Diego Revollo has dealt a stunning hand to this loft style apartment renovation/conversion. This apartment feels livable and cozy while maintaining a sense of modern glamour.
The materiality is kept neutral with polished plaster on the walls and ceilings and concrete on the floor. Shades of purple are layered atop this with blocks of yellow and burgundy in the kitchen. A mix of contemporary design pieces including Gehry’s Wiggle Sid Chair are mixed with a relaxed banquette style sofa.
Revollo has crafted the spaces masterfully. The crisp yellow of the counter top wraps around to form the dining table. Space is at a premium here. On the reverse of the kitchen a small timber lined office sits tucked away behind a pivot door.
At the threshold of the public and private spaces is a curtain which separates the two and references a theatrical scene. Distinction between bedroom and bathroom is created through floor materiality – from concrete to timber. More private functions are kept behind an operable wall while bathing is on full show!
This 70 square apartment is exceptionally well crafted and refined in finish and materiality. The rich colour palette unifies the flow of the spaces and adds a sense of play and whimsy.
