If you hadn’t already noticed, I love colour. As a designer and relentless viewer of beautiful interiors I gain understanding of a designer’s process through breaking down their colour story. Gonzalo Garcia has crafted this modest apartment in Madrid, Spain around a sexy and feminine colour story.
A tints based on the deep crimson velvet sofa plays out as a dusty rose on the majority of the walls throughout the apartment. In contrast, moments of turquoise and cerulean sit in discourse to this. Texture and form elements such as the furs and spherical stone accessories are repeated throughout the apartment bring continuity. Ultra matte white on ceilings, architraves and the cast iron pillars at the threshold to the dining room aids in delineating spaces.
A refined palette of materials of oak and stone has been used throughout. The craftsmanship and detailing of the kitchen is superb and feels more like a fine piece of furniture than mere cabinetry. This apartment is a beautiful study of masculine and feminine elements, fine craftsmanship and balanced colour story.
