Located in the iconic beach suburb of Bondi Beach Australia, this was a project with great family history attached to it. 4th generation farmers who are farming their original farming block that was first established in 1888! The entire concept of bringing paddock to plate and having a complete head to tail approach was something we resonated with studio Morris Selvatico when designing “1888 Certified” gourmet butcher. Recycled timber and bricks were used – both products manufactured from waste products. Rustic timber, mild steel and recycled brick was paired with hand glazed white gloss and concrete tiles.
To create a space that reflected the overall concept of the store – paddock to plate. The client wanted a space that evoked the feeling of the farm without being literal with a slight industrial edge. 1888 Certified provides a premium butcher retail space that is steeped in history with a definite Bondi hipster vibe.
