When the brief for this apartment was to make the space as bright and cheery as possible to reflect the owners sunny disposition, macaroons where chosen as the colour theme. Throughout this Taiwanese home, pastel colours where used to create a calm yet playful atmosphere… certainly you couldn’t accuse the space of not being bright and cheery!
The simple palate of three colours, blue, pink and yellow were chosen and used almost exclusively for all surfaces and furniture with the dominant pink wall greeting people upon entry. Into the living area things get a little more playful with a clever yellow pip and timber shelving unit and bright pink legs for the breakfast table. The only time we see a move away from the soft tones and textures is with the lighting. Two copper pendants in the kitchen area and a simple chandelier in the living area add a touch of contrast to the apartment. Though not immediately my cup of tea, the simple use of colour in the project to create such a strong identity for the space and to meet the client’s brief so succinctly is very impressive.
