Two central courtyards are set across two levels in the semi-detached Court House designed by HYLA Architects in Singapore. On the ground level, a frangipani tree sits in the middle of a pond, framed by a timber clad box. The double volume living room and the dining room wraps around the courtyard framing the tree and pond.
The second story level of the courtyard is positioned over the dining area and in front of the master bedroom. The full height glass facade facing the courtyard is screened by interlocking vertical and horizontal timber members. The courtyard offers the house a lot of privacy whist acting as a light-well and natural cooling and ventilation. Quite, tranquil and architecturally zen the perfect escape from the bustling pace of Singapore.
