International Outlook

When presented with the opportunity renovate this apartment, located in Tel Aviv and designed in the International Style in the 1930s, the architectural firm Studio Raanan Stern sought to honour the original details and atmosphere while equipping the space for the needs of the modern day client.

The program for the house is set out by the floor material with concrete used in the public areas, timber in the bedrooms and tiles in the bathroom.  Together with this, the architects introduced materials to compliment the space – soft white walls, timber panelling, black steel framed door (which I love!) with the overall effect of clean, confident lines and light open spaces.

The furniture and decorative elements follow this narrative with a “combination of modern and antique furniture made from different materials: straw, velvet, wood & metal that were collected from different shops in Tel Aviv, some of them were refurbished and customized, enriching the interior of the apartment.”
