“Bold and elegantly masculine” is how Flack Studio describe this project, located in the leafy Melbourne suburb of Armadale, and for me it is also plain sexy. It is the richness of materials and finishes – dark timbers, bronze, and marble – that gives this home a confident personality, and combined with the crisp white architecture of the building, the overall effect is as dramatic as it is stunning.
With a brief that started with only a decorative scheme and eventually expanded into a full renovation, Flack Studio took a holistic approach to the existing conditions and actively worked to retain any features that were worthy, like the flooring, while taking away redundant features such as faux-Georgian framework. The result is a design narrative that carries from room to room and creates a space that has serious style.
