From up on Princes Hill

The inner city suburb of Princes Hill in Melbourne Australia is home to some beautiful Victorian Architecture. The challenge here: to juxtapose what is a contemporary renovation while championing the heritage of the building. Charged with the task to bridge this historical language was Christopher Elliott – and what a conversation!

This family home seems to draw design motifs from many eras: Victorian bones, Art Deco curves, Modernist steel and glass windows. What makes it work? Elliott’s refined palette of materials – wide oak floors, simple dark joinery details and large slabs of marble are timeless in a classic contemporary fashion. A beautiful addition to the city urban landscape.
