Intoxicating mix – revisited

I have been fortunate enough to visit London a couple times and every time is more inspiring that the last. Spending days in galleries and design museums is such a decadent pleasure for me. What I love most about London is walking the streets, particularly the more affluent suburbs, peering through terrace front windows in the hope of glimpsing “the good room” beyond. I can only image my delight if I was to stumble upon this this family home in the south-west of London!

Beata Heuman is responsible for this building’s latest incarnation – a home full of fun, distinctive design, colour and whimsy – a highly original space, unapologetically theatrical and oozing energy.

Rearranging the spaces around a central stair has been the key to success here. A mix of formal and informal spaces, an artist’s studio and areas for entertaining and for solitude are now all present. The challenge with such clearly creative clients has been tempering this enthusiasm to something that is still fun but certainly livable. The result is a textured decorative layer that appears as if it has been collected overtime. The effect: a heady and intoxicating mix of colour, texture and art.
