Social and private house

The GGL House, located in Sao Paulo city was designed by Studio AG Arquitetura for a young couple that had purchased a long narrow plot. The project brief was to maximise space within the challenging plot of land. The upper bulk of the residence arises as a reinterpretation of a traditional house, with a gable roof, respecting the language of the adjacent houses. The striking façade is built with metal profiles clad in high-pressure laminate panels which delivers high visual impact and durability.
The ground floor plays host to the social areas, kitchen, service area and open living room, with direct access to the garden. The kitchen, integrated most of the time, has pivoting sliding doors isolating it completely on days with events.
The upper level hosts the private areas of the house, composed by three suites and a living room bathed in natural light and cross ventilation. Bi-fold windows filter the light of the bedrooms, whist the gable roof provides a space of contemplation near the treetops by using a space that would otherwise be unused.
