Edgy personal style – San Francisco

In the years since his move to San Francisco, Regan Baker design’s client had launched a successful career in sales and cultivated an equally engaging social circle. He had even found the time to open a candy store with his sister, down in Los Angeles. All that was missing was a home he could see himself living in long term. His search brought him to a stately Queen Anne at the edge of the Mission with Victorian-meets-modern details throughout, plentiful guest rooms and multiple, entertaining-friendly living areas.
After purchasing the home and engaging Regan Baker Design whom ethos is; “that design should be comfortable, modern, and personal”. The clients request was the create a home that reflects his edgy personal style. The studio introduced a mix of elevated-yet-comfortable furnishings, dramatic, patterned wall coverings, and moody details.
In the living room, a charcoal sofa with modern lines is grounded by a pair of oak and brass coffee tables. Green velvet side chairs flank a wide bay window, drawing on tones in the cheeky photograph mounted above the sofa. The room’s rich jewel tones are echoed in the dining room with a loose, brushstroke-patterned wallpaper and a striking teal over-dyed rug, while the powder room boasts a moody, dark floral wallpaper. Just down the hall, the studio transformed the home office with a deep shade of green, and a wall of custom shelving designed to house our client’s favourite novels.
On the uppermost floor, a converted attic with a kitchen area and deck space serves as the perfect spot to entertain large groups of friends. The client wanted this space to feel less formal than other areas of the home, so Regan Baker sourced comfortable, relaxed furniture like the plush linen sectional. Outside on the deck, the studio designed a built-in bench for additional seating and installed overhead heating to make this an inviting San Francisco space to gather.
