Evolution in Paris

The celebrated design, Studio KO transforms this pied-à-terre in the Eighth Arrondissement in Paris with ideas of spare elegance, rich colour and quietly luxurious finishes. This 170 square metre, two bedroom apartment is like a treasure box, revealing a richer and more colourful maximalist style. A visual feast – with hints of surrealism and a restrained whimsy, 70s tones are...

Golden Eye

Looking back on my year of articles I can see that 2015 for me has been very much about minimalism – clean, crisp lines and refined materials. So, in a step away from the normal and going in the direction that many interiors will be taking in 2016, I have this stunning and recently completed (not to mention uber decorative) apartment by Paris-based Lebanese designer,

partially glazed

Numi consists of squared tiles with a different, partially glazed geometric form. These heaven shapes create a pattern which magnifies into architecture. Numi marks the beginning of the collaboration between Mutina and the German designer Konstantin Grcic. For the first time, Grcic works with the ceramic surface he came to value the beauty of this simple and ancient material. A lump of clay that becomes floor, coating. The idea of matter as...

Rombini

Rombini is a project consisting of three models: tiles, mosaics and relief elements based on colour and composed by three elements: CARRÉ, LOSANGE and TRIANGLE. Carré, 40x40 rectified slabs in glazed porcelain stoneware, are produced on a mould made of many little embossing diamonds on a matt surface which gives a strong ceramic identity to the collection.

Carré is available in two versions: Uni, where colour is...

Bridging the Gap

Located in Italy and designed by the firm, Resin, this family home ticks all the right boxes for materiality and scale. Without a doubt, the main feature of the home is the double-height living area with its soaring ceiling, huge white walls that are juxtaposed by the exposed concrete and of course the bridge made from steel beams...

house made from wood

Outside of Moscow in the Pushkin district Russian architect Alexey Ilyin has built a home for himself and his family. The cottage is made entirely of wood, and the natural self-sufficiency of this material became one of the key themes of the design. Under the overhang on the main facade, the completely blank wooden surfaces are visually striking creating a feeling of a totally introverted volume. The...

rejecting white

A recently refurbished this 1930s loft apartment in Sweden has undergone a stunning transformation which simply rejects white. In the beginning of the project Note Design Studio found three images which together became the foundation of the expression. The motifs: a brown cashmere coat, a pair of sand-colored sneakers and a plaza in Rome. Stylish but relaxed with...

The unique stylings of Dimore Studio

It’s fitting that the word “dimore,” which means dwelling in Italian, has an air of nostalgia. Britt Moran and Emiliano Salci, the designers behind Dimore Studio, are skilled at taking a piece of history and giving it new life.  Their 17th-century kitchen is updated with a solid brass island, a midcentury dining table, and an 18th-century Gustavian daybed. This mixing...

The jewel of the sky

It's hard not to dream about the new and the shiny especially when it comes to the JetSet. San Francisco-based aircraft company Cobalt has unveiled the sexy Co50 Valkyrie, the fastest private piston aircraft. The Co50 Valkyrie is the fastest private aircraft in its class with the ability to travel up to 260 knots.  This stunning must have is inspired...
